First, we headed to the Learning Store for the free Saturday craft, a modeling foam ornament. Amanda and Caitlyn were also able to sit in on a little bit of "The Allowance Game" that they had going in the store.
Next we headed out to grab some lunch (and play in the indoor play area), before parking and taking the train uptown.
We got off at the children's library/theatre, where they were having a special holiday activity. They had a local author there reading her book, and then afterwards, the kids got to make little treasure boxes and decorate snowflake cookies.

They were also having an instrument "petting zoo," which was very cool. They had youth volunteers with the orchestra there with instruments that the kids were able to try. I thought Amanda did very well with the french horn, but she was particularly fond of the cello.
Amanda fell outside while playing with some other children and got a bad bruise on her head. We got her some ice, and hopefully it won't look too terrible tomorrow. We were all worn out on the return train ride.
At home again, we got out the gingerbread tree kit that Nana and Papa gave us for Christmas, and the girls, Chad, and Steve went to work. (I went to the grocery store.) It turned out well, though I hear it was a near disaster.
After dinner, we exchanged gifts with Grandpa Steve. The girls were thrilled with their various new art supplies. Eliza was also very fond of the bear she got as a birthday present. She got a little frustrated when it wouldn't sit up next to her though. She had to tell it a couple of times to "Stay."
