Knots

It's not as much fun to post when I have no pictures, but Amanda had an event yesterday. Lately, she's been very into making jewelry by tying yarn into knots. One of her classmates last year showed her how.
Well, on Wednesday, Amanda decided to have a Knot Festival for the neighborhood. She sat down and made a list of everything she wanted and needed to do. She wrote and decorated the invitations all herself, and she even wrote a welcome speech. (I was quite amused.) We had decided to invite the cul-de-sac kids who were home during the day over for lunch (BYO) and the festival. Unfortunately, only one of the kids we invited was going to be home during the festival time. Amanda was a little disappointed that we couldn't have a proper festival, but she quickly bounced back and determined we'd just have a Knot Play Date instead.
So we had one of the girls from down the street over for knot crafts and swimming. Amanda gave her welcome speech, and after they were done swimming, Amanda led everyone in a parade around the backyard. (She had collected instruments, some real, some homemade, beforehand.) She even sent the little girl home with party favors and a bag of yarn to work on her knots at home.

Amanda is truly an oldest child! Very much a planner and organizer. I love it.
