Amanda started reading her first real chapter book today. I started reading the first of "The Boxcar Children" series to the girls, but quickly realized that it was easy enough for Amanda, so she gave it a try. It was exciting enough that she wanted read it, despite the lack of illustrations (the impediment to her trying most chapter books before now).
When she started chapter 4 she was a little confused, though. She had to ask what the word "iv" meant. I definitely had a chuckle when I realized she was trying to read the roman numeral. I guess she hasn't learned those in school yet.
