Amanda and I went to her school today to meet her teacher, drop off her school supplies, and get her things organized for the first day. (Isn't it crazy that she has to have all her school supplies in three weeks before school starts?!)
Amanda was excited to find that her best friend from her kindergarten class is in the same class, as is another good friend. (Only four students total from her kindergarten class are in her first grade class - the other is a boy, so it's actually really nice that two of them are good friends.)
Afterwards, we went by the library down the street from the school(a different branch than we usually go to) and got Amanda her very own library card. She was excited to browse the shelves and pick out her very own books for which to be responsible.

First Son has no interest in a library card. I offered one to him as a reward when he started reading and he just shrugged and said he wanted me to check them out for him. He seems to be very excited about reading so I guess that's the important thing.
