To end the last day of Vacation Bible School, the local fire department came and sprayed the kids with the fire hose. Very cool. The water in the truck only lasted about five minutes, but then the staff had a few garden hoses out, too.
(Amanda and Eliza are in the middle in the pink/stripes.)
After the girls were done, we went to the site where Chad has been volunteering all week. He's been an adult volunteer with the youth during their local missions week. He's been with a group running a camp at an inner-city church that our church has partnered with for several years. The youth ran a camp with five different specialties - soccer, basketball, football, music, and dance. We were invited to watch the kids showcase some of the things they learned during the week.
The youth and adult volunteers have been living at the church all week, so we're excited that Chad's coming home today! We missed him!
We're having record-breaking heat right now, though, and the all-time record high temperature for the city is probably going to get broken today. Ugh. I'm praying our almost 20-year-old air conditioner holds out a little longer.
