Trip Highlights

The girls and I spent a week visiting my family. We returned home again on Tuesday. I didn't take a lot of pictures, since my camera batteries were dying or dead most of the time and my mom and sisters had cameras, but here are a few.

From the dairy farm, where they petted animals, played in dried corn, climbed on tractors, and ate yummy ice cream...

In front of the old barn on the farm where my grandfather (and his father) grew up.


My grandfather took the girls and I out to the old farm property one morning. It was really neat to put a location with my great-grandmother's stories about the farm. A wonderful young couple with two small children own it now, and they're very interested in maintaining and restoring it.
The main part of the house is the original log cabin, built before 1900. (You can see they added some nifty solar panels, though.)


We also had a great time in my mom's and grandmother's pools, enjoyed my nephew's fifth birthday party, and had a 4th of July cookout and homemade ice cream at my grandmother's house. The girls also had fun playing with the baby chicks my stepdad is raising and playing charades with my aunt Kay.
