Catching up

I took a break from the computer for the weekend, so here's a little catch-up.

The Girl Scout cookies came in last week. Eliza enjoyed playing blocks with them before most of them got delivered.


Caty started riding Amanda's bike (no training wheels) on Friday. So far, she can only go about 20 feet before swerving into the grass, though.


Chad and I got a babysitter and went out on Saturday, which was very nice. The girls had lots of fun with the Valentine coloring pages and activities Aunt Kay sent them.


Chad was up at the lake all day yesterday, helping with a fundraiser that the adaptive sports program runs. It's called Arctic Blast, and people donate money to go skiing in the freezing lake water. Meanwhile, I was at home with the girls, including one very sick Caty. (She's feeling better today, though.)

Today we finally got around to melting some crayons to make into large crayons. The girls have been collecting crayon pieces for a while so that we could do this.



We also started our apple dolls. We read a book called The Apple Doll by Elisa Kleven a couple weeks ago, and it has directions for making the dolls in the back. You start by peeling, carving, soaking, and then drying an apple. The apple will then spend several days drying out before it gets impaled on some sort of stick and dressed appropriately like a doll. We'll let you know how they turn out.


Amanda has another two days off school, so tomorrow she's going to visit her old class and teacher.
