Eliza started counting down to her birthday when it was still twelve weeks away. She did a pretty good job of remembering how many more weeks to go, too.
She has been very excited to finally have a birthday party where she could invite only her friends. She invited two neighbors, three friends from church, and three friends from school. She reluctantly agreed to let her sisters participate, too.
Since her birthday is so close to Christmas and there was no way I was having a huge party at our house right before we were getting ready to go away for a week, I readily entertained suggestions for locations. We settled on a place that Caitlyn had gone to for a birthday party in kindergarten. It's a photo studio and they host parties for girls at their location. It was a slumber party theme, so the girls wore pajamas and brought pillow and blankets for watching a movie.
They took a few professional group shots of the girls and then the girls settled down to watch a movie while they alternated getting their nails done and getting glitter and gloss applied to their faces. After that, they attacked the dress-up room (absolutely a little girls dream!) and then came down for movie snacks and some more of the movie. They also decorated frames in which to put the group photo from the party. We finished the evening off with cupcakes and presents.
(In case you were wondering, Eliza broke out in impetigo, a skin infection, the week before her birthday, and that is why her face is red on one side. Thankfully, it was much better and non-contagious by her party!)
