Camping in the Mountains

Chad has the week off, so we wanted to take the girls camping in the mountains for a few days. A neighbor suggested a campground they are planning to go to later in the summer. It was a great choice!
It was pretty empty when we first got there, since Tuesday was the last day of school in that area. The campground was in a fabulous location, and it was very clean and even had a heated pool. We were blessed with great weather while we were there.
We got settled Monday afternoon, made dinner over the fire, had s'mores, and went for a swim in the pool.







After Amanda made eggs for breakfast on Tuesday morning, we set out to see as many waterfalls as we could fit into the day.







We had lunch at this beautiful site, on the grounds of a YMCA camp.



After lunch, we visited a few more waterfalls, before heading to the area's most popular attraction for some sliding and swimming. I hear it was VERY cold. =)




Afterward, we stopped by a nice little trail with a suspension bridge to find a couple of letterboxes.



Finally, we had an ice cream break, before heading back to the campground for dinner and more s'mores.



We packed up Wednesday morning and went for another swim before heading home. We had a little time, so we stopped at a natural history museum that we'd never been to on the way home. Amanda was especially thrilled, though all the girls enjoyed the T-Rex in the lobby and the live porcupine that shook water at them (through the glass).
It is good to be home again, though. I'm almost caught up on the laundry.
